About The Position

The Project Architect is the key point person on a team working under the direction of the Project Manager to deliver a project. This role requires strong design and technical abilities and professional experience. The Project Architect will perform in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the design process, including programming, preparation of design and Construction Documents. Work includes independent leadership in the creation of Schematic Design, Design Development, and Contract Documents, Revit, Sketch-Up model building, renderings, and Construction Administration activities, all within an established budget, schedule, and programmatic requirements. This role is responsible for all technical and design aspects of projects, including investigation, evaluation, and development of design solutions. The Project Architect is the person in charge of the day-to-day responsibilities of a project, responsible for design, coordination with consultants, internal and external team members, and organization of Construction Documentation. This role works closely with the QA/QC team to ensure complete project review and supports the activities of the Project Manager. The Project Architect will be able to create, review, and approve concept design options, assign tasks to other team members, and maintain the project schedule. This role also mentors and helps develop junior staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience in architecture, and/or construction profession.
  • Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited Architecture School.
  • Strong experience and demonstrated proficiency in all design phases including a minimum of five completed projects from Schematic Design through Construction Documents and Construction Administration.
  • Experience organizing & assembling construction documents; proven technical skills in detailing.
  • Superb communication skills with consultants, clients, and contractors; experience coordinating work of consulting engineers.
  • Technically skilled; strong experience using Revit, 3-D modeling software; BIM proficiency.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, collaborative, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to run internal meetings, consultant meetings, and to prepare and coordinate required project presentations.
  • Expert understanding of Architectural and/or Interior Design principles and theory associated with project design and construction materials and methods.
  • Demonstrated strength in effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate a professional work ethic.
  • NCIDQ, or ARE plus LEED Certification.
  • Ongoing professional growth in the design and construction industry.
  • A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and driving record, as deemed acceptable by our firm’s liability insurance carrier, must be presented and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the design process, including programming, preparation of design and Construction Documents.
  • Provide independent leadership in the creation of Schematic Design, Design Development, and Contract Documents.
  • Utilize Revit, Sketch-Up for model building, and create renderings.
  • Manage Construction Administration activities within established budget, schedule, and programmatic requirements.
  • Be responsible for all technical and design aspects of projects, including investigation, evaluation, and development of design solutions.
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of a project, including design, coordination with consultants, internal and external team members, and organization of Construction Documentation.
  • Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure complete project review.
  • Support the activities of the Project Manager.
  • Create, review, and approve concept design options.
  • Assign tasks to other team members.
  • Maintain project schedule.
  • Mentor and help develop junior staff.
  • Independently develop design studies, concepts, and sketches for approval with Project Manager or Project Executive.
  • Independently prepare Documentation for Schematic Design and Design Development.
  • Exercise creative judgment and design skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models, and graphics.
  • Be committed to key firm principles including strong communication, teambuilding, excellence in design, quality control, and sustainability.
  • Prepare accurate, coordinated, and complete Contract Documents including plans, details, sections, elevations, and schedules (Completion of a minimum of 5 sets).
  • Oversee amendments, addenda, and bulletins as required to support the Project Manager.
  • Lead and prepare revisions and technical alternatives for review by Project Manager.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with the C3S Project Delivery Manual.
  • Organize, plan, and execute tasks independently.
  • Understand project work flow, scheduling, and project management.
  • Manage the work of project consultants, including document review, communications, and coordination efforts.
  • Coordinate project work with QA/QC program.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of others on the project team.
  • Demonstrate a strong overall leadership role on projects.
  • Maintain ongoing, positive, and proactive relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Actively involved in Business Development opportunities.
  • Seen as an emerging leader in the company.
