About The Position

STV is seeking an Architect for its Buildings group in NYC. The Project Architect is the chief technical architect responsible for the management and creation of construction documents on assigned projects within STV's New York Metro architecture practice. This role ensures coordinated, code-compliant, and buildable documents from Design Development through Construction Documents. The Project Architect serves as the technical lead, directing the project team and ensuring technical coordination across all engineering disciplines and outside consultants. They own technical detailing, code compliance, and document quality. The Project Architect partners with the Design Lead and works under a Senior Project Architect, managing day-to-day production and discipline coordination. All production is executed in Revit, and the Project Architect is responsible for model quality and the integration of specifications with the drawing set. Beyond project delivery, the Project Architect contributes to STV's national technical leadership by participating in working sessions, sharing project experience, and helping build firmwide technical standards. They also support pursuits by contributing project-experience narratives and technical approach content to proposals.

Requirements

  • Registered Architect (RA); New York State registration required, or obtainable within an agreed period after hire
  • 5–10 years of professional architecture experience, including construction document production and multi-discipline technical coordination
  • Proficiency in Revit/BIM for architectural production
  • Working knowledge of New York City building codes and applicable New York State codes
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with engineering disciplines and outside consultants through DD and CD phases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • NCARB certification
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Public-agency or institutional project experience (transit, education, justice, or civic)
  • CSI/CDT credential or specification-writing experience
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods, including design-build

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the production of construction documents, including drawings and specifications, on assigned projects.
  • Lead and develop the project team, directing technical coordination across all engineering disciplines and outside consultants to produce coordinated, conflict-free documents.
  • Own technical detailing, code compliance, and document quality within the assigned scope.
  • Partner with the Design Lead as a technical collaborator, with involvement deepening through Design Development and Construction Documents.
  • Manage day-to-day production and discipline coordination for assigned work under the direction of a Senior Project Architect.
  • Escalate strategic design decisions and client communication upward.
  • Concentrate on technical decisions, drawing production oversight, specifications, and mentoring of production staff.
  • Ensure model quality and the integration of specifications with the drawing set.
  • Contribute to STV's national technical leadership by participating in working sessions, sharing project experience, and helping build firmwide technical standards and tools.
  • Support pursuits by contributing project-experience narratives and technical approach content to proposals.
