About The Position

Rock Spring Contracting, a leading commercial drywall and specialty contractor, is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Project Analyst to join our growing Charleston, SC team. As a Project Analyst, you'll serve as a strategic financial partner to our Project Managers and Operations teams, leveraging project controls, financial analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting to drive informed decision-making and successful project outcomes. This role focuses on identifying trends, mitigating financial risks, and uncovering opportunities to improve project profitability and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, project controls, construction finance, project accounting, or a similar analytical role preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Experience working with budgets, forecasting, cost analysis, or financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with construction ERP systems such as Plexxis, Procore, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar software is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • experience with construction ERP systems such as Plexxis, Procore, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Managers from project kickoff through closeout to monitor financial performance and profitability.
  • Review contract documents to understand billing requirements, payment terms, schedule impacts, and financial risks.
  • Establish project budgets and financial controls while maintaining accurate contract values and approved change orders.
  • Analyze actual project costs versus budgets and forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improved performance.
  • Assist Project Managers with weekly project forecasting, Estimated Cost to Complete, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, and profitability projections.
  • Investigate cost variances and develop recommendations to improve financial performance on current and future projects.
  • Support monthly client billings and ensure project costs are captured accurately and billed timely.
  • Identify unbilled costs, billing delays, or cash flow concerns and work with project teams to resolve issues.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, final reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support process improvements, reporting enhancements, and financial analysis initiatives across the organization.
