The Project Accounting Specialist is a well-organized, confident, and energetic finance professional focused on ensuring Telaid delivers on the Telaid Proven Process: reducing the time, task, risk, and cost in technology deployments. This role serves both internal and external customers. Internally, the Project Accounting Specialist provides direct support to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller and indirect support to Ownership, the Senior Leadership Team, Operations Leadership Team, PMO Business Unit Program & Project Managers, and other Corporate Managers. Externally, this role interacts with customers regarding billing-related issues. The Project Accounting Specialist is capable of problem-solving, recommending, and implementing solutions that align with Telaid's vision, annual goals, and core values.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and excel in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Creative, self-disciplined, and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with strong Excel skills.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of billings and collections experience.
  • GL Accounting experience desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems and modules, including standard and custom reporting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with PMI project management methodology (process groups, knowledge areas, and processes) is a plus.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Acumatica, and Sage 300 financial software desirable.
  • Experience in a project accounting environment also desirable.
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports, Microsoft PowerBI, and SQL helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Managers and others to obtain timely and accurate information for monthly billings.
  • Assist in proactively getting project budget and billing information into finance software
  • Generate invoices to customers using various software packages.
  • Follow up with customers on all billing related issues.
  • Apply payments to customer accounts.
  • Reconcile discrepancies with customer records.
  • Run and review credit reports for any new customers to determine credit limits.
  • Use accounting software to generate periodic reports.
  • Assist in Monthly (or more frequent) Project review meetings with Project Management Team to discuss gain/fade and trends.
  • Research and answer specific questions from Project Management about project cost and revenue transactions
  • Create project financial templates.
  • Participate in client onboarding to validate submission process and client needs.
  • Perform client submission verifications.
  • Identify issues contributing to aging balances and take action to resolve as needed, including escalation to Management.
  • Communicate with other departments as required to resolve billing and aging issues.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by management.
