Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with substantial equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with California prevailing wage requirements.
  • At least eight years of project billing and accounting experience within a consulting services firm required.
  • Proficient in labor-based ERP systems, with a strong preference for Deltek Vantagepoint or Vision.
  • Two to three years of experience in project financial analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of general project accounting concepts, including Work in Process (WIP) and revenue recognition
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and training teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Accountants, providing training, guidance and supervision in their daily activities.
  • Provide support to Finance and Operations leaders in managing the financial aspects of projects, including but not limited to work-in-progress (WIP) reviews, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis.
  • Evaluate project authorization and amendment documents to ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Implement and maintain project accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations.
  • Support integration processes for acquired firms, including data migration and personnel transitions
  • Prepare internal and external audit support and respond to inquiries from Project Accounting and Finance leadership
  • System management of projects including, but not limited to, project setup, maintenance, invoicing, and project closure
  • Assist in collections of aging receivables; correspond with project managers, clients, and/or collections agencies to resolve problems and expedite payment
  • Assist employees with troubleshooting the company accounting system
  • Assist Project Accounting Leaders with ad hoc projects
