The Project Accountant is responsible for maintaining and managing finances for Project Managers and Principals across all offices at SGH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of practical experience in general accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable preferred.
  • Detail oriented and organized with a commitment to responsiveness, follow through, and customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • AEC industry experience or understanding a plus.
  • Government contracting and procurement experience a plus.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as accounting and finance resource for technical professionals on assigned projects.
  • Review contracts and other project documents for financial and reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers and principals to ensure accuracy and proper accounting for job costs and earnings.
  • Generate invoices and supporting documentation based on contract terms and input from project managers and principals.
  • Manage collection of accounts receivable and reconciliation of cash receipts.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and provide detailed and timely financial information to project managers, principals, and company management.
  • Monitor and analyze progress against budget and make recommendations to improve project performance.
  • Verify subcontractor and vendor invoices to ensure adherence to contract terms.
  • Advise on accounting best practices and act as authority on and within the context of GAAP and the firm’s internal accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accounting files and records.
