In this role, you’ll play a key part in the financial success of our projects by providing timely reporting, monitoring project performance, and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Leadership in supervising and mentoring the junior members of the accounting team.
  • Experience with general ledger management and account reconciliations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex financial issues.
  • Effective communication with management, auditors, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of finance rules and regulations relevant to the construction industry.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize accordingly to effectively manage multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, advanced excel skills
  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number).
  • All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMiC is considered a strong asset.
  • CPA designation or working towards designation is considered an asset.
  • Secret clearance is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor junior accounts payable clerks, providing guidance and support.
  • Handle complex or escalated disputes with vendors or internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Organize and file all project invoices in a high throughput environment.
  • Review and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
  • Track project costs, revenues and cashflows.
  • Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions related to projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billings with supporting packages.
  • Work with project managers to develop cost-saving strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and update project accounting systems and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to project teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required by the organization's needs.
