We’re seeking a full-time Project Accountant to join our New York Operations Team, reporting to the Managing Director. In this role, you’ll be responsible for project, contract, and office-level finance and accounting functions across a diverse portfolio of projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, or finance or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years Project Accounting experience
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management and WIP (work in progress) concepts
  • Experience working with project accounting software such as Deltek Vision, Deltek Ajera, BQE Core, or in our case CMAP
  • Experience in a professional services organization such as Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Construction, and/or Legal
  • Advanced Excel Skills

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary point of contact for all things project accounting: billing, revenue recognition, WIP, A/R dunning, financial metrics, etc.
  • Own of project accounting system (CMAP) and ensuring the accuracy of data for US operations
  • Lead the monthly closing process, meeting with senior management to provide revenue variance explanations
  • Prepare revenue forecasts with input from the local Managing Director
  • Code and processing A/P, timesheets, and expense reports
  • Working cross-functionally with other Operations teams (bus dev, legal, HR/staffing)
  • Assist with annual audit and provide explanations for project finance related matters
  • Accurately document, administer and maintenance of contract information
  • Perform specialized accounting functions and manage internal controls
  • Participate in establish project budgets and monitoring financial performance against those budgets
  • Guide Project Managers in project bookings, budgets, performance, forecasting and receivables
  • Manage project invoicing
  • Conduct periodic project reviews to make sure projects are on track financially
  • Compiling and analyzing data to provide insight into the financial performance of projects
  • Creating reports to share budget and cost information
  • Collaborate on resourcing/staffing of projects as well as fee estimates and cost calculations
