•$55 - $65•Hybrid

About The Position

Southwest Electrical Contracting Services LLC (SWECS), a commercial electrical contractor headquartered in Converse, Texas, is seeking a hands-on Project Accountant for a 4-to-6-week contract project. The project will rebuild the setup of employer-paid fringe benefits—including health, PTO, holiday, life, disability, and 401(k)—in Spectrum (Trimble/Viewpoint), SWECS’s ERP. The work covers union, wage, and add-on codes for prevailing-wage/Davis-Bacon and other jobs. The resource will drive setup, testing, and go-live in coordination with the Payroll Manager, HR, and Accounting teams. The engagement includes validating employee benefit data and fringe hourly rate calculations, configuring Spectrum payroll using import templates, testing payroll and certified payroll outputs, checking GL postings and department mapping, supporting production cutover, and documenting procedures and handoff processes. Deliverables include live fringe-benefit setup in Spectrum production; documented testing and tie-outs, with issues resolved or documented; how-to documents for each setup step; and a completed handoff to Payroll and HR.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of construction payroll, payroll accounting, or ERP payroll implementation experience.
  • Hands-on payroll setup experience in a construction ERP; Spectrum is strongly preferred, while Vista, Foundation, CMiC, or Sage 300 CRE are also considered.
  • Working knowledge of union and prevailing-wage/Davis-Bacon payroll, fringe-benefit credits, and certified payroll reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivots, and reconciliations, and comfort with bulk data imports.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized, with standard practices for documenting sources, assumptions, exceptions, and validation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior payroll system implementation or conversion project experience.
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
  • 401(k) and benefits administration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Validate the employee benefit master file and fringe hourly rate calculations against vendor invoices and plan documents.
  • Build and load union codes, wage codes, job settings, benefit tiers and overrides, and add-on (U) codes in Spectrum using import templates for prevailing-wage and non-Davis-Bacon employees.
  • Test payroll setup in the TST environment; reconcile payroll output and certified payroll reports to manual calculations; and validate GL postings and department-code mapping.
  • Track uploads and issues, resolve differences, and support production cutover.
  • Write step-by-step how-to documents, help design GL-to-invoice benefit reconciliations, and help hand off new-hire add-on setup to HR.
  • Complete the engagement deliverables, including production setup, documented testing and tie-outs, setup instructions, and handoff to Payroll and HR.
