The Project Accountant, Senior is responsible for leading proper billing, revenue and reconciliation duties for the projects under their purview. This role must have a deep understanding of accounting rules, GAAP revenue recognition guidelines, and One10’s workflow. This role will work closely with the Client Services team and have the comfort level to direct and support the understanding of project setup up and revenue recognition. This role will be responsible for full reconciliation of projects from start to finish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 5-10 years of comprehensive experience in project accounting
  • Strong MS Excel skills (pivots, v/h-lookups, etc.)
  • Financial expertise in POC billing and GAAP ASC606 revenue recognition
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and analytic problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Experience with efficient processes and the use of technology; accuracy is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership for projects and drive to completion
  • Takes initiative and is resourceful when problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing requests while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Proactively identifies and addresses potential accounting errors/risks on an ongoing basis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work across departments

Nice To Haves

  • CPA (active or inactive) preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred, as well as experience with project management applications/systems

Responsibilities

  • Understands, applies, and supports teammates in understanding of One10 project accounting processes and practices
  • Strong financial review of PnL balances to propose project journal entries to manage the project’s funds
  • Perform month-end close activities, reviewing project working capital summaries, project Profit & Loss/Balance Sheet statements, and Percent of Completion schedules
  • Prepares other ad hoc reports and analysis as assigned
  • Monitors and provides recommended improvements of the revenue accounting function through review of processes and procedures and implementation of process improvements
  • Provides support and recommended improvements to account management questions related to client billing
  • Contributes and provides process improvements to revenue and deferred revenue analyses
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Participate in cross training
  • Executes responsibilities in month-end close process, and recommends processes to improve the close cycle time
  • Own project financials through close-out and month-end close processes -- high level of ownership, accuracy and accountability is a must!
