About The Position

The Project Accountant manages day-to-day project accounting for 5–15 projects at a time in Walsh’s water division in Westfield, Massachusetts. The role supports project management staff and handles accounting workflows involving subcontractors, suppliers, project costs, monthly profit and loss reporting, and owner billings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related field.

Responsibilities

• Review and process subcontracts, subcontract change orders, and performance and payment bonds to ensure compliance with specified terms.
• Collect and review project subcontractor and supplier lien waivers.
• Collect, review, and process monthly subcontractor and supplier project invoices; ensure invoices are accrued properly and on time to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
• Ensure proper payments to subcontractors and major suppliers.
• Understand the Walsh monthly P&L process, ensure timely submission of project P&Ls, and review them for accuracy.
• Process cost transfers on project cost reports for Project Management staff.
• Assist Project Management staff monthly with preparing billings to project owners.
• Collect, review, and submit monthly owner billings to the Accounting Manager for processing.
• Communicate with project staff to track when projects are paid.
• Handle client and subcontractor communications professionally and promptly.
