About The Position

The Progressive Care Unit RN coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care and advocates for patients to support an exceptional patient experience. The role involves caring for cardiac and medical-surgical patients, including stepdown patients, at Medical City Denton. The position is full-time, working a day shift from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with rotating weekends.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as an RN in a PCU.
• Registered Nurse (RN) credential.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, to be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, to be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Experience with stepdown patients, including CVA, CIWA, tracheostomy care, PEG tube care, medical management, heparin infusions, and Cardene infusions.
• Associate degree; BSN required with enrollment within 12 months and completion within 24 months (magnet hospital).

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures and other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
• Collaborate with medical providers to provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
• Advocate for patients and support a high-quality patient experience.
