About The Position

The Town of Caledon is seeking a Programmer, Specialty Programs to develop and deliver community programs focused on adapted recreation, inclusion supports, accessibility services, and partnership-based community programs serving residents with diverse needs. This role reports to the Supervisor, Community Programs and leads daily program operations, supports and mentors frontline staff, and ensures safe, accessible, and engaging program experiences across assigned program areas.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation Studies, or closely related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of progressive experience in a recreation setting, including direct and indirect programming.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to obtain and exchange routine information.
  • Demonstrated capability to act as a leader within a functional area.
  • Valid G class driver’s license with no more than 3 demerit points.
  • Daily access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check.
  • Proof of qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification(s) in HIGH FIVE®, Standard First Aid, PHCD, Quest 1 Trainer are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the planning, development and execution of a variety of recreation programs, services and initiatives, including inclusion, camps, and arenas.
  • Provide behaviour management and physical assistance to a wide variety of individuals with disabilities.
  • Cooperatively work with staff to develop, implement and evaluate year-round recreation programs to ensure the integration of participants with a disability.
  • Analyze and assess recreation program requirements and present recommendations to the Supervisor, Community Programs.
  • Collect and analyze data related to customer feedback and effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Liaise and represent the Town of Caledon while working with suppliers, schools, businesses and the general community.
  • Respond to emergencies, customer inquiries and complaints, and ensure a positive relationship between the public, outside agencies and internal staff at all times.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate contract, volunteer, full-time and part-time staff.
  • Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned.
