About The Position

The School of Medicine, Bayview Pediatrics is seeking a Programmer Analyst (Developer II) to participate in the creation, implementation, maintenance, performance, production support, and documentation of various departmental and enterprise-wide application systems. This includes the installation, modification, and testing of new and/or upgraded applications, operating systems, file structures, hardware, communication devices, and productivity tools. The role involves applying analysis techniques to gather and translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs, producing deliverables based on these specifications, and maintaining databases and application system code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • One year of related experience with computer systems and applications.
  • Experience with statistical software such as STATA, SAS, Python, and/or R.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education permitted by the JHU equivalency formula beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with REDCap databases and clinical research datasets.
  • Familiarity with clinical research, epidemiologic research, and/or population health research methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Define business/clinical/education problems by meeting with clients to understand current processes and issues, and document findings.
  • Gather system requirements by meeting with clients and researching existing technology.
  • Develop detailed tasks by analyzing project scope and milestones.
  • Write functional/technical specifications based on system requirements.
  • Develop/change data input, files/database structures, data transformation, algorithms, and data output using appropriate computer languages/tools.
  • Document code and associated processes by adhering to development methodologies and adding code comments.
  • Create and document test scenarios using appropriate testing tools.
  • Test all changes to ensure delivered solutions work as expected and errors are handled appropriately.
  • Author and maintain documentation for technical and/or end-user references.
  • Implement changes by adhering to change management policies and procedures.
  • Monitor changes and resolve problems by responding to issues as they occur and ensuring the solution works successfully.
  • Provide support by triaging and resolving issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
