Programmer Analyst
About The Position
The Programmer Analyst will work with a team of programmers and analysts who support the organization’s systems. The primary focus is performing new installations for financial institutions, with other work such as upgrades between installations. The role includes software installations on AS/400 and Windows servers, and may involve assisting with code review, debugging, troubleshooting, application programming and testing, analyzing test results, resolving production issues, and creating programming documentation. The role also involves learning programming assignments and specifications, keeping skills current with emerging technologies and industry practices, and following software development, security, and compliance standards. This is a contract-to-hire position based in Chicago, Illinois, and is described as fully remote.
Requirements
- Skills in RPG, Windows Server, and AS/400.
- Experience working with Windows Server-based web application environments.
- Familiarity with mainframe environments and the ability to read COBOL code.

- Programming or software engineering-related certifications, or an active desire to pursue such certifications.
Responsibilities
- Install software on AS/400 and Windows servers.
- May assist with code review, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure code quality and resolve issues.
- Learn assignments and design or develop programming requirements and software specifications.
- May assist with programming and testing all or selected components of applications.
- Learn to analyze and resolve test-result problems and debug production issues.
- May participate in creating programming documentation.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to improve skills and software development processes.
- Follow organizational standards, policies, and procedures related to software development, security, and compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
