About The Position

CMTS is seeking a highly qualified Programmer – Analyst III (Network/Systems) to support a major public-sector construction bond program in Los Angeles, CA. This position is responsible for computer network administration and operations activities supporting the Program Management Office (PMO) and nine campus project sites. The Programmer – Analyst III will perform complex professional and technical duties involving computer networks, communications hardware and software, network and application servers, routers, firewalls, LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless networks, virtual environments, storage systems, and PC workstations. The position will also support IT disaster recovery systems and provide Level 2 and Level 3 helpdesk support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science or a related field.
  • An additional four years of qualifying experience beyond the minimum experience requirement may be substituted for the required education.
  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable systems and network administration experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-oriented skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in user-friendly and non-technical language.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and current Windows Server environments.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SFTP.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory Services, Entra ID, Office 365, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with VPN appliances and Cisco Meraki appliances.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise antivirus solutions, CrowdStrike, Zoom Administration, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of network security technologies including VPNs, ACLs, IPSEC, and SSL.
  • Experience supporting websites, intranets, and SharePoint environments.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud architecture.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles.
  • Knowledge of Rubrik Backup and Recovery, Nessus, and Splunk.

  • Experience providing IT-related support for a large construction bond program.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, manage, and provide technical networking support for physical and virtual environments.
  • Test, install, configure, and maintain operating systems, application software, and network devices.
  • Maintain network and system uptime.
  • Administer network-related systems and servers to ensure availability of services.
  • Install and configure client and server network software and perform upgrades as required.
  • Proactively monitor network and system performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage assigned IT projects in accordance with established objectives.
  • Configure and support firewalls, Wi-Fi access points, network switches, routers, and related network devices.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, and outside vendors.
  • Identify and resolve network and server infrastructure issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and document standard operating procedures.
  • Research network products, services, protocols, and standards.
  • Support network-system installations, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Maintain network security firewalls and network access rights.
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures and contingency plans.
  • Perform network routing, cabling, and switching activities.
  • Design network topologies and correct network non-compliance issues.
  • Respond to system outages and recommend solutions for network performance issues.
  • Recommend networking technologies that improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Maintain and expand network infrastructure as required.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support cybersecurity systems development, testing, analysis, and implementation.
  • Conduct system vulnerability assessment and management.
  • Respond to security threats and assist with development of threat-prevention strategies.
  • Generate reports for executives and administrators.
