About The Position

Join our Cyberlife team and help support the systems that power life insurance policy administration. As a Programmer Analyst I, you will learn our processes and platforms while building and maintaining programmatic solutions, translating simple business needs into technical work, testing your changes, and supporting production issues alongside experienced teammates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience such as an associate degree/technical bootcamp plus relevant work experience)
  • Entry-level—no prior professional experience required; relevant internships, co-ops, projects, or 1–3 years of related experience are helpful
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and clear written/verbal communication
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow established processes, and ask questions

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to SQL and relational database concepts
  • Interest in (or exposure to) mainframe concepts such as COBOL and JCL—and enthusiasm for building a strong technical foundation
  • Demonstrated commitment to coding best practices (clean code, documentation, testing mindset)
  • Coursework or interest in insurance fundamentals (e.g., LOMA Principles of Life Insurance and/or General Insurance Certificate coursework)
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn—especially in a structured SDLC/waterfall environment

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business representatives and business analysts to understand simple requirements and translate them into system requirements and simple technical specifications
  • Write readable, reliable, and maintainable code that aligns with team standards and software fundamentals
  • Perform unit and system testing using test plans/scripts approved by the business; review results with peers and adjust as needed
  • Prepare required documentation and obtain approvals to migrate changes into the locked-down production environment
  • Identify and fix coding errors quickly, showing initiative and a proactive approach to quality
  • Track time and status to the appropriate projects/support activities for billing and reporting
  • Support production issues and (after training/ramp-up) participate in an on-call rotation for 24-hour system support
