About The Position

As a Program Supplier Quality Engineer, you will serve as the primary quality interface between the organization and its external supply base. You will play a critical role in driving supplier quality performance, ensuring compliance with requirements, and fostering continuous improvement. This position requires onsite work and domestic travel to support supplier assessments, audits, and reviews. This is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience interpreting schematic drawings and validating compliance, such as hardware inspection techniques and documentation reviews.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience using quality tools, including Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, and process mapping.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date with ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and industry technical standards such as ANSI, CMMI, and ASTM.
  • Experience with quality management standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9145, or MDA Assurance Provisions.
  • Experience conducting and completing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Experience working with aerospace or commercial equivalent preventative tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Lean Manufacturing, and Control Plans.
  • ASQ certifications.
  • Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure flow down of product and process requirements to sub-tier suppliers through purchase orders, quality notes, and statements of work (SOW).
  • Identify supplier risks and develop robust engagement plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Communicate and interpret technical requirements as the liaison between suppliers and engineering for drawing changes and nonconformance dispositions.
  • Drive continuous product and process improvements using methodologies such as Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA), Six Sigma, and Lean tools.
  • Conduct on-site source surveillance, source inspections, First Article Verifications (AS9102), and corrective action reviews.
  • Participate in design reviews, program reviews, supplier reviews, and qualification test reviews to mitigate escape risks.
  • Implement effective RCCA processes, including FRACAS investigations and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR).
  • Provide performance feedback to suppliers and communicate quality information to internal stakeholders.
  • Travel domestically up to 50% to support supplier assessments, audits, and reviews. 25% domestic travel is typical.
