About The Position

The Enoch Pratt Free Library has an opening for a Program Success Coordinator and Career Coach, an experienced and enthusiastic career services professional to help deliver and ensure the success of the Pratt Library’s various workforce development programs and services. This is an incredible role for someone who enjoys and has experience in creating meaningful experiences and direct impact in the lives of underserved populations and members of the Baltimore city community. Under the supervision of the Job and Career Center Manager, the Program Success Coordinator and Career Coach will hold a variety of responsibilities related to directly coaching learners - a major driver of our program succession model. The role is charged with recruitment and support of our 18-month accredited high school diploma and career certificate program, provide individual and targeted assistance with professional development and preparation for employment, identifying barriers and connecting participants with education, resources, skills training, work-based training and placement opportunities, and documenting all communication and follow-up efforts with participants, partners, and providers. This includes incorporating valuable engagement support that promotes vocational training, continuing education, job placement, job coaching, career advancement and pathways that make obtaining consistent gainful employment in areas that pay a livable wage more accessible. The Career Coach will work closely and collaborate with the Pratt Library’s workforce related programs such as our Social Impact Group Services, Office of Equity and Fair Practice, Teen Services, library staff, and act as a key contributor in the Pratt's Employer Partnership Alliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in workforce development, education, or project management.
  • Successful completion of the Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within two years of hire.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baltimore region with personal transportation.
  • Research skills utilizing public library-type tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to set priorities.
  • Ability to work with others in a cooperative manner within a team environment and with individuals who possess varying degrees of technological aptitude.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to equitable customer service.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and participation in professional activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to form trust-based relationships with learned and other stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of professional skills such as resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, communicating professionally, including interest and experience with career coaching, tutoring, education, counseling, youth development, nonprofits, or other mission work.
  • Outstanding ability to understand and empathize with others, including people with diverse backgrounds and interests, and a commitment to improving the lives of underserved Americans.
  • Exceptional operational and organizational skills, and ability to manage your own schedule and balance multiple demands with demonstrated success working in fast-paced environments and solving problems creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly reviews student application materials to determine eligibility; interviews prospective students and determines scholarship awardees.
  • Ensures student enrollment is complete and communicates with appropriate administrative personnel regarding any technical issues.
  • Monitors student progress on academic dashboard and checks in with students and/or COHS academic coaches when necessary.
  • Meets individually with participants to determine skill level, industry experience, and education/training needs.
  • Plans biannual/annual recognition ceremonies for the Pratt Library’s program graduates.
  • Coordinate with our internal program initiatives, external and local partners, organizations and educational institutions to plan and organize annual resource and career fairs.
  • Guides participants through assessments and create an individualized career plan.
  • Assists with scheduling workshop attendance, enrollment into programs within Pratt Library’s or with external partners education training institutions and facilitate in person training’s monthly to enhance job readiness and employability.
  • Assists with developing resumes, and cover letters, identify opportunities for employment and assist with application and interview process.
  • Inputs, connects, refers, and maintains staffing agencies, recruiters, and business partners information to match the Pratt Library’s Employer Partnership Alliance intake criteria requirements.
  • Creates and distribute the Job and Career Center's internal and external communications pertaining to community resources, job fairs, and all Job and Career Center internal programs.
  • Assists library customers using the public computers with both career and other requested assistance including making copies, printing, using general library resources, and other similar areas.
  • Works at public service desks assisting customers as needed in the Central Library with job and career as well as other general library questions.
  • Maintains supportive technology for Career Online High School students (e.g. Chromebooks and hotspots) and ensures student compliance with Technology User Agreement.
