Under direct supervision, the Program Specialist will be assigned to work at one of various Recreation facilities. This position will assist in the planning, organization and coordination of recreational activities, community programs, facility reservations and special events. The incumbent will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to: active involvement with youth, teens, and seniors on a daily basis; scheduling and planning special events and trips; planning monthly activity calendars; prepare and distribute promotional material concerning new or ongoing programs and events; supervise staff and activities in the absence of supervisor/coordinator; assist with scheduling of staff; maintain program equipment, files, records, and inventory; assist with the set-up and tear down of recreation activities; and provide assistance with the day to day operation. May perform additional duties as required. The Program Specialist will also be responsible for the following duties when assigned to that recreation facility: Social Media: Will manage and enhance the City's online presence across various social media platforms. This role will involve developing and executing social media strategies, producing engaging content, and promoting city events, initiatives, and services to foster community engagement and strengthen the City’s reputation. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a passion for public service, a deep understanding of social media trends, and the ability to create content that resonates with a diverse community. Arts and Recreation Center (ARC): Supervise the coordination of art-based programs, special events and excursions, and other recreational activities; participate in active involvement of youth, ages 5-18, on a daily basis; assist in the set-up and tear down of art exhibits; assist in the set-up and breakdown of stage, audio and sound equipment, and of facility rental equipment including tables and chairs; assist with city wide special events and excursions; and perform related duties as assigned. Barnes Park: Supervise youth and teens on a daily basis; assist with the coordination of a variety of social services programs and recreation programs including sports, games and special events; and perform other related duties as assigned. Before and After School Program (BASIC): Supervise the coordination of art-based programs, special events and excursions, recreational activities, and limited operations of the Baldwin Park Historical Museum; participate in the daily engagement and supervision of youth ages 5–18; assist with the set-up and tear down of art exhibits; assist with the set-up and breakdown of stage, audio, sound, and facility rental equipment, including tables and chairs; assist with City-wide special events and excursions; and perform related duties as assigned. Community Center: Interact with the public on a daily basis; perform clerical duties such as handle high volume of calls and relay messages; assist the public by receiving, distributing and filing a wide variety of materials and payments in accordance with prescribed program procedures; assist with class registrations; collect fees and admissions; assist with preparing collections for audit and deposit and keep accurate records; and perform related duties as assigned. Senior Center: Supervise seniors on a daily basis; coordinate the recreation programs including senior services, special events, and other recreational activities; assist with monthly shopping as needed; assist with city wide special events and excursions; and perform other related duties. Teen Center & Skate Park: Supervise the recreation programs including teen services, special events and excursions, and other recreational activities; participate in active involvement of teens on a daily basis; assist in the coordination of recreational programs targeting middle school and high school teens including sports, games, special activities and trips; and perform other related duties. Family Service Center: Coordinate with social service agencies, school staff, community groups, private practitioners, clergy, and police regarding the needs of youth, families and the public in general. Maintains a variety of records, including registrations, reservations, permission slips, purchasing, accidents, and vandalism; provides consultation services to groups, presents information to community based organizations, initiates and maintains communications with at-risk families; Supervises classes, workshops, and activities for individuals and families conducted in the Family Services Center; Responds to public inquiries about the programs and services relating to the Family Services Center; Prepares for publication, a variety of printed materials and related communications regarding the Family Services Center programs, and performs other related duties as required.
