About The Position

This position performs high-level assignments under the limited supervision of the Educational Consultant in the Career and Technical Education Services Section, Bureau of Standards, Benchmarks and Frameworks, Division of Career and Adult Education. Position serves as an Industry Sector Specialist that acts as a strategic liaison between education and industry partners. Responsibilities include the development, maintenance, alignment, and continuous improvement of Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum frameworks to ensure relevance, rigor, and responsiveness to workforce needs. The position functions as a facilitator, manages sector-related initiatives, conducts research and labor market analysis, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and provides technical guidance to educators and industry representatives. working collaboratively with school districts, state colleges, state agencies, and industry partners. The role of this position involves managing the review process for curriculum and industry certifications which guarantee that students engage in progressive skill development and high-quality instructional practices that lead to gainful employment and post-secondary success.

Requirements

  • Four to six years of professional experience working in or with Career and Technical Education (CTE), curriculum development, or industry sectors relevant to Career and Technical Education.
  • Experience in creating, conducting, or facilitating professional training courses, working groups, or stakeholder meetings.
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to travel for statewide program reviews, stakeholder meetings, and conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate comprehensive reviews of CTE programs within the assigned Career Clusters to update requirements and learning objectives, ensuring they reflect high-quality instructional practices.
  • Guarantee that programs within a career pathway are vertically aligned, resulting in progressive skill development from secondary through postsecondary levels.
  • Maintain and update official program files and curriculum documents on the department website and CPalms.org.
  • Act as the primary liaison and facilitator for working groups comprised of district representatives, college faculty, state agencies, and subject matter experts.
  • Guide stakeholders through the framework revision process to ensure statewide consistency and buy-in.
  • Actively research labor market trends, emerging technologies, and workforce needs.
  • Utilize labor market data to validate the need for new programs or the modification of existing ones, ensuring Florida students are prepared for high-demand careers.
  • Assist in the review and alignment of industry certifications to program performance metrics.
  • Support the development of articulation agreements that award college credit for earned industry certifications, streamlining the student journey.
  • Coordinate and assist with the CTE portions of the US Presidential Scholars Program, Teacher of the Year, and instructional materials review.
  • Assist in the administration and review of relevant CTE grants to support district and college programs.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
