About The Position

This position performs intermediate-level work under the general supervision of the Program Specialist Supervisor II in the Evaluations Section, Bureau of Educator Certification, Division of Public Schools. This position evaluates and processes individual’s credentials to determine eligibility for an educator’s certificate pursuant to Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and Department/Bureau policies covering all subject areas.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and evaluates credentials for determination of eligibility for Temporary, Professional, and other specialty certificates.
  • Research and identifies college/university programs to meet specific educator certification requirements.
  • Research and identifies individual college courses for applicability to meet specific educator certification requirements established in State Board of Education Rules.
  • Review and evaluation of other supporting documentation such as credential evaluations of foreign academic training, out of state teaching certificates, certification examinations, alternative and district certification programs, and prior teaching experience to meet educator certification requirements.
  • Review and evaluate individual courses, in-service points or examinations to determine eligibility for renewal or reinstatement of a Professional Certificate.
  • Review and evaluate documents submitted from other countries to determine applicability to meet Florida educator certification requirements as provided for in State Board of Education Rules.
  • Prepare responses to educator certification inquiries from the applicant, the public, university/school district personnel and others via written correspondence, email or telephone.
  • Prepare official correspondence of educator certification eligibility including statements of status of eligibility and/or issuance of certificates in response to evaluations requested via submission of completed applications.
  • Verifies that appropriate background screening clearance is on file prior to issuance of an educator’s certificate.
  • Support and assist as the backup for Military Waiver processing and/or EPC Final Orders processing.
  • Execute the completion of public record requests related to subject evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as requested and assist the unit supervisor and other Bureau staff as necessary.
