About The Position

This position is for the Region 5 Apprenticeship Training Representative (ATR) serving Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Seminole Counties. This position is responsible for promoting, developing, servicing and monitoring registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs with public or private sector sponsorship in officially recognized apprenticeable occupations; Ensure registered programs adhere to all applicable state and federal rules and regulations regarding apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs; Coordinate with associates in “One Stop” Centers for the purpose of providing registered apprenticeship training opportunity information to clients seeking employment through Center services. The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Understanding of Registered Apprenticeship and Preapprenticeship.
  • Ability to travel (frequent day trips within Central Florida and approximately 2-3 trips per year throughout the state)
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants with two to four years of professional experience in Registered Apprenticeship or Preapprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting, developing, servicing and monitoring registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs with public or private sector sponsorship in officially recognized apprenticeable occupations
  • Ensure registered programs adhere to all applicable state and federal rules and regulations regarding apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs
  • Coordinate with associates in “One Stop” Centers for the purpose of providing registered apprenticeship training opportunity information to clients seeking employment through Center services
  • Promote apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs through personal contact, presentations and distribution of approved apprenticeship informational materials to/for: Employers, labor/management organizations, employer and contractor associations, local education agencies, local government officials, chambers of commerce, and other interested parties; Students, educational counselors, government and private sector agencies involved in job placement and referral, and other interested parties; Conferences and work fairs.
  • Develop apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs in apprenticeable occupations through organizational and industry contacts with prime sponsor representative(s).
  • Provide technical assistance to registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Conduct site and/or desktop evaluations of programs to ensure quality programs and equal employment opportunity compliance.
  • Administer federal apprenticeship grants both discretionary and non-discretionary funding to include quarterly reporting on grant activities and expenditures and local promotion activities associated with the grants.
  • Maintain and submit appropriate material to maintain the integrity of the administrative needs of the program.
  • Perform and complete in a professional and timely manner other assignments as delegated by the Senior Educational Program Director, the Division of Career and Adult Education, of the Department of Education.
