About The Position

The Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences (DEES) is seeking a dedicated, full-time Program Specialist I to handle a variety of financial and administrative duties. Under the Business Manager’s supervision, the Program Specialist I will operate using sound judgement, discretion, and use initiative in a variety of administrative, fiscal, and planning activities. This position is located in Reno, NV. DRI is a recognized world leader in basic and applied environmental research. Committed to scientific excellence and integrity, DRI faculty, students who work alongside them, and staff have developed scientific knowledge and innovative technologies in research projects around the globe. Since 1959, DRI’s research has advanced scientific knowledge on topics ranging from humans’ impact on the environment to the environment’s impact on humans. DRI’s impactful science and inspiring solutions support Nevada’s wide-ranging economy, provide science-based educational opportunities, and inform policymakers, business leaders, and community members. With campuses in Las Vegas and Reno, DRI serves as the non-profit research arm of the Nevada System of Higher Education. More than 400 highly-skilled scientists, engineers, technicians, students and staff on two main campuses in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, are collaboratively focused on understanding and answering critical questions about water quality and availability, air quality, sustainability of desert lands, life in extreme environments, and more. DRI ranks high in research and development expenditures in environmental sciences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic experience with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience working in an office environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate skills in Adobe Acrobat
  • Prior experience with inventory coordination
  • Basic experience with Workday or similar information system

Responsibilities

  • Processing purchasing card transactions and other invoices
  • Coordinating annual division asset inventory and routine monitoring of division inventory
  • Generate and distribute monthly reports to faculty
  • Coordinate division events and meetings
  • Monitor and order divisional supplies and project related supplies as needed
  • Assist Division Director with correspondence and scheduling
  • Input and coordinate IT and Facilities tickets to assist division admin staff and faculty
  • Assist with completing personnel reports for division and HR as needed.
  • Coordinate SPOT and parking-pass checkout
  • Assist faculty with administrative questions
  • Serve as backup for other division program specialists in processing timesheets and expense reimbursements
