About The Position

The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, performs entry-level specialist duties for a department, college, or division. This role assists in coordinating and offering comprehensive user-centered scholarly communication services. It also involves assisting in the design and implementation of scholarly communication procedures, programs, services, and tools. The position will also help in collecting, interpreting, and developing special reports using quantitative and qualitative data, and in developing and delivering relevant instructional content for scholarly communication and research.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
No experience required.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in library and information science, communication, data science, or related field.
Experience working in a public service capacity.
Experience conducting research.
Springshare suite (LibGuides, LibCal, etc.).
Statistical software and data visualization tools.
Citation management tools.
Library research and services in academic library settings.

Responsibilities

Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and services.
Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops to facilitate program goals.
Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing materials.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
Assists with coordinating and offering comprehensive user-centered scholarly communication services.
Assists in designing and implementing scholarly communication procedures, programs, services and tools.
Assists in collecting, interpreting, and developing special reports using quantitative and qualitative data.
Assists in developing and delivering relevant instructional content for scholarly communication and research.
