About The Position

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities. You are responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of an arts program within a specialized arts venue. Responsibilities include design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a program (theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and/or media arts) within a specialized arts venue; also responsible for administration and responding to public inquiries.

Requirements

Completion of college or university arts-related studies program and/or practicing in one of the following disciplines: music, dance, theatre, visual arts, literary arts, media arts, or arts education.
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa
Knowledge of interpretive techniques and designing program in related discipline.
Excellent knowledge of Museums Standards for the Handling and installation of works of art or excellent knowledge in technique of operating a studio using glazes, kilns, wheels, and or other related program specific equipment
Strong knowledge of developing training program for instructors and/or volunteers using glazes, kilns, wheels, and clay
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all City of Ottawa corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
Very good oral and interpersonal communication skills
Training and/or instruction skills
Sensitive to the needs of various ages groups and their learning ability
Ability to use program specific tools and equipment
Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and supervise staff
Organized, efficient and productive
Flexibility and ability to work in a changing work environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction. (Under 18 requires Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (Level 2) check)
