About The Position

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the Program/Project Coordinator position with the Human Services Department - Housing Options, Solutions, and Supports Division. The Human Services Department is seeking a Program/Project Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of a major grant-funded initiative that supports essential community services. In this key role, you’ll coordinate program activities, develop policies and procedures, conduct provider monitoring, prepare performance reports, and manage project documentation with precision. You’ll serve as a vital liaison between county departments, providers, community partners, and residents—ensuring that every component of the program runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with county standards. If you’re a detail-oriented problem solver with experience managing complex projects, this is an opportunity to make meaningful community impact. This is a grant funded position.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration or closely related field. (One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)
  • Requires two (2) years experience in a staff or administrative capacity managing special projects, programs or business operations appropriate to the area of assignment or closely related experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration or closely related field.
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration or closely related field.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Expert or closely comparable certification
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working with Homeless Management Information System.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in monitoring and/or auditing of federal, state or local programs or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages all aspects of a large program or project within the agency, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Plans, develops, authorizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates programs, projects, activities, and services.
  • Facilitates program inclusion, prepares reports, and analyzes and interprets data to inform decision-making.
  • Develops and updates policies, procedures, and guidelines related to assigned programs, projects, and services to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Promotes and assesses agency programs and services; collaborates with partners to plan and implement programs and community-wide special events.
  • Oversees the maintenance of project records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with agency and funder requirements.
  • Serves as an administrative liaison among County operational and administrative functions related to assigned programs and projects, facilitating communication and coordination.
  • Conducts special studies and analyses related to assigned projects; compiles and interprets data; and prepares recommendations based on findings.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and conducts annual monitoring of all contracted service providers to ensure compliance with contractual and performance standards.
  • Prepares detailed monitoring reports and corrective action plans for contracted providers, and follows up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Communicates key procedural and policy changes to staff and management to support consistent implementation and understanding across the agency.
  • Compiles, reviews, and submits Quarterly and Annual Outcome Performance Reports according to agency and funder requirements.
  • Attends and actively participates in community outreach events to educate consumers, constituents, and community partners about HOSS-D services.
  • Provides essential support to persons experiencing homelessness during designated cold- and hot-weather events.
  • Participates in monthly provider meetings to support collaboration, communication, and performance monitoring across programs.
  • Represents the agency at Community Court, supporting program participants and promoting coordinated community response efforts.
  • Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to work nights/weekends/holidays.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
