About The Position

PROGRAM/PROJECT COORDINATOR TO THE MIT COMMITTEE ON ANIMAL CARE , Division of Comparative Medicine , will process all aspects of the protocol review for new protocols, renewals, procedural addenda and new personnel addenda to extant protocols. This includes evaluating protocol submissions; ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and institutional requirements; pre-reviewing submissions prior to triaging for veterinary review; determining level of review required, i.e., full committee or designated member; keeping investigators informed of the status of their submissions; relaying post-review comments to investigators; ensuring investigator’s responses to committee comments are complete prior to sending for re-review; monitoring protocol expiration dates and reviewing response dates to ensure no interruption in approval; assisting with the preparation of meeting agendas; attending monthly meetings of the CAC and any ad hoc meetings; and recording minutes of these meetings.

Requirements

  • Two years of administrative and/or project/program management experience
  • bachelor’s degree preferably in animal science, biology or related field
  • basic knowledge of issues pertaining to the use and care of animals in research, testing, and instruction
  • excellent organizational, record-keeping, and written communication skills
  • proficient computer skills, particularly with proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Drive, DropBox, and Adobe Acrobat
  • commitment to promoting research animal welfare and scientific integrity
  • ability to work with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of direct IACUC regulatory experience and/or experience working with laboratory animals in a research setting
  • CPIA and/or ALAT/LAT/LATG certification
