The City of San José's Office of the City Auditor is seeking motivated individuals dedicated to improving government and services for San José residents. This office plays a key role in improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of services provided to the city’s nearly 1 million residents. Through independent, objective performance audits, we evaluate City operations and make recommendations to improve programs and services across the organization. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on City government and the quality of life for residents in the heart of Silicon Valley. The City is hiring for multiple Performance Auditors and is recruiting for a Senior Program Performance Auditor or Program Performance Auditor I/II positions to lead or support City Council assigned performance audits of City operations. Senior Program Performance Auditors typically lead and coordinate all aspects of audits, including identifying areas of inquiry, developing audit programs, overseeing data collection and analysis, preparing audit findings and reports, and directing the work of other auditors to achieve audit objectives. Program Performance Auditor I/IIs typically serve as audit team members. They analyze complex operations, financial and organizational issues, evaluate alternatives, develop fact-based findings and recommendations to improve City services. Audit subjects vary widely and may include public safety, parks and libraries, community and economic development, and other City programs.
