This position is responsible for the supervision of staff, including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. The administrator manages teams, including a phone contact center, within the Board of Nursing, Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation and reports to a selected exempt Board Executive Director. This program is responsible for the initial licensure of Board of Nursing health care professions. The role involves analyzing, formulating, and recommending proposals to rules and legislation, as well as developing new policies and procedures to efficiently and effectively implement board, department, and legislative directives. Communication with applicants, the general nursing community, board members, and licensees regarding statutory, rule, and policy requirements is essential. The position also manages and builds agendas for the Board of Nursing and several committees, travels to bi-monthly Committee/Board meetings, makes presentations, and prepares meeting minutes. The administrator participates in board office management and leadership, takes lead responsibility for special projects, and functions as Acting Board Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
