About The Position

As Program Officer, Child Health Grant Program, you will play a key role in advancing innovative child health initiatives across Alberta. Working collaboratively with healthcare leaders, researchers, clinicians, community organizations, donors, and Foundation colleagues, you will help transform philanthropic investments into meaningful advancements in child health, research, education, and innovation. As a member of the Foundation’s Strategic Partnerships team, you will collaborate with health system, academic, and community partners to identify, develop, and advance investment opportunities that align with the Foundation’s strategic priorities and those of our partners. This includes alignment with key system priorities across Alberta’s health organizations, the University of Calgary’s Child Health & Wellness Institutional Research Priority, and broader efforts to strengthen integrated, high-impact models of care. Through these partnerships, you will support initiatives that improve clinical care, advance research and innovation, strengthen health equity, and enhance community-based approaches to improving outcomes for children, youth, and families. The Foundation’s Child Health Grant Program (CHGP) currently includes over 140 active, multi-year projects representing more than $300 million in funding. The program manages the full lifecycle of investments—from opportunity development and due diligence through funding, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and impact reporting—ensuring donor investments are strategically aligned and deliver measurable impact for children and families. In this role, you will serve as a trusted liaison and key point of contact for the CHGP, bringing together fundraisers, donors, grantees, health system partners, researchers, and community organizations to advance shared priorities and maximize the impact of philanthropic investments. Requirements

A post-secondary degree in a health-related, scientific, or business discipline. A Master’s degree is considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, with a focus on project management, program delivery, grant administration, database management, and/or outcome measurement.
Experience evaluating program effectiveness, measuring outcomes, and using data and insights to inform recommendations and continuous improvement.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while exercising sound judgement and exceptional attention to detail.
Experience working with grant management systems or in database administration, including database management, configuration, developing reports, dashboards, queries, or data analyses that support informed decision-making.
Financial acumen and experience monitoring project budgets, reviewing financial information, and supporting funding accountability.
Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and collaborate effectively with colleagues, researchers, clinicians, health system leaders, and community partners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience working within the health system, research, university or not-for-profit environments, including navigating grant and funding processes, is preferred.
Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and impact reporting within health care or post-secondary research environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Build and strengthen strategic partnerships across the health system, academic institutions, government, and community organizations while serving as a liaison and key contact for the Child Health Grant Program.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify, develop, and advance funding opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
Support the Director and Vice President, Strategic Partnerships in developing and managing relationships with complex project partners across healthcare, research, government, and community sectors.
Participate in cross-sector working groups and committees that strengthen partnerships and improve the accessibility, transparency, and effectiveness of the Child Health Grant Program and other Foundation initiatives.
Deliver responsive, solutions-oriented support that fosters trusted, collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Co-developing funding proposals in collaboration with project partners.
Liaising with partner organizations to support external review, as applicable.
Coordinating internal review and approval processes.
Developing funding agreements and project impact frameworks.
Managing project cash flow and financial monitoring.
Overseeing project reporting, evaluation, financial review, and close-out activities.
Acting as a trusted resource for partners by providing guidance on funding processes and responding to inquiries regarding both small- and large-scale investment opportunities.
Driving continuous improvement of grant processes, systems, and reporting, with a particular focus on optimizing the Grant Management System (GMS).
Enhancing project monitoring, impact measurement, and data analytics to support evidence-based decision making.
Partnering with Finance and external organizations, including the University of Calgary and Alberta’s health organizations, to maintain accurate financial information, support reconciliations, and contribute to annual budgeting.
Working collaboratively across the Foundation to develop meaningful impact indicators and translate complex project data into reports, dashboards, and compelling stories for a variety of audiences.
Supporting fundraising by providing meaningful evidence of donor impact and strengthening awareness of Child Health Grant Program investments.
