About The Position

The Transitional Living Program (TLP) provides a stable, supportive, and developmentally appropriate residential environment for justice-involved youth ages 18–26. The program focuses on safety, healing, accountability, and growth through a low-barrier and trauma-informed approach. Youth receive individualized support aimed at improving life skills, stabilizing housing, accessing behavioral health care, completing probation requirements, and moving toward long-term independence.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working in social services, preferably serving vulnerable populations, youth, or people with behavioral health issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, behavioral health, and trauma.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of services available to individuals experiencing homelessness in San Francisco or the demonstrated ability to obtain such knowledge.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the agency.
  • Must be able to lift to 35 pounds.
  • Must be available to work on weekends, Friday through Sunday, working swing (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.), or overnight (10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough rounds and supervise program activities to ensure safety of residents.
  • Provide information to residents about community services available to transition age youth experiencing homelessness in San Francisco.
  • Responsible for understanding and following program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate logs, shift reports, and incident report records using web-based programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents, staff, and agency.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent delivery of services.
  • Support team members and residents in problem solving, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
  • Maintain program entry protocol for residents, service providers, and visitors.
  • Rotate through assigned post positions.
  • Perform restocking of kitchen and supplies.
