About The Position

Join the Black Cultural Zone CDC as a Program Manager! Are you an experienced program management professional interested in driving results within mission-critical initiatives and making a real impact? Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation (BCZ CDC) is seeking a Program Manager (Associate to General - DOE/Q) with a demonstrated track record in project execution, risk mitigation, and compliance for funded programs. This role stewards one or more Program Initiatives (a portfolio of related signature or funded programs and their respective internal and external working groups), driving results within their domain. The Program Manager monitors program progress, identifies and mitigates risks, and ensures compliance with contract and grant deliverables and terms. This position is vital for advancing BCZ CDC's mission to unapologetically center Black arts, culture, and economics in East Oakland and to guide the organization toward sustainability and maximizing its mission impact. We are seeking someone who is connected to and has a love for the East Oakland community. Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit setting, is required. Experience in program and event oversight, monitoring, and evaluation is required.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace , Salesforce, and other operational software is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in event planning is required.
  • Must be an effective team-oriented leader , possessing excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize last-minute changes, work well under pressure, and work independently.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and be able to travel around Oakland and Alameda County.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in community organizing is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or similar certification) is strongly preferred. Candidates must either hold this certification, be actively enrolled in a program, or commit to completing the certification within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Program Stewardship: Steward assigned Program Initiatives—a portfolio of signature or funded programs and related internal/external working groups—to ensure their efficient and effective execution.
  • Performance and Risk Management: Monitor Program Initiative progress, identify risks, and implement strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure strict compliance with contract and grant deliverables and terms. Contribute to deliverable documentation and performance reporting.
  • Documentation and Dashboard Management: Lead in creating and publishing content on the Initiative and related program dashboards. Co-develop, review, and audit designated folders and dashboards/trackers (in Google Sheets and SmartSheets).
  • Planning and Improvement: Co-develop, review, and adjust implementation roadmaps, briefs, and plans. Evaluate program performance to determine if improvement plans are needed.
  • Meeting Leadership: Take a leadership role in attending external meetings and facilitating internal working group meetings related to supported Initiatives/programs.
  • Budget Contribution: Contribute to budget management and resource allocation.
