About The Position

Hiring Our Heroes (HOH), part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, connects service members, military spouses, and veterans to meaningful careers through workforce development. This role will lead the Skilled Trades Academy at Fort Belvoir, focusing on building relationships, driving outcomes, and creating opportunities for the military community. It's a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to the long-term success of others.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Experience in business development, partnerships, or workforce programs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into action
  • Comfort using AI tools to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and a self-starter mentality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and virtual platforms
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Fort Belvoir, VA for regular in-person presence.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with the military community or transition programs
  • Familiarity with DoD SkillBridge
  • Exposure to skilled trades (union or non-union environments)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end strategy and execution for the Skilled Trades Academy
  • Translate national goals into local programming, partnerships, and results
  • Build and grow employer relationships across skilled trades industries
  • Identify new growth opportunities (industries, training pathways, cohorts)
  • Plan and host events that connect participants with employers
  • Deliver briefings and webinars to drive program awareness and enrollment
  • Oversee training providers to ensure high-quality participant experiences
  • Support participants throughout their journey—from application to placement
  • Track outcomes, measure success, and continuously improve the program
  • Create clear, executive-ready updates and impact storytelling
