About The Position

The Program Manager coordinates activities of the Stroke Program by developing, implementing and coordinating activities through interdisciplinary collaboration and utilization of stroke guidelines and practice standards. This role involves developing and promoting evidence-based stroke education and training for physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families, and planning and coordinating community outreach educational activities. The Program Manager will lead the Stroke Program Committee and participate in other hospital-based committees, overseeing policy development and periodic review and update of care guidelines. They will attend Code Stroke, serve as a clinical resource for stroke patient care and management, and follow up on patient care issues. Additionally, the Program Manager acts as a liaison between the hospital and outside entities through participation in regional meetings related to stroke.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization effectively to achieve outcomes, direct others and negotiate for desired results
  • Knowledge and skill in professional nursing theory and practice, including physiological principles involved in the care of acute and critical patients, principles of teaching and learning, research, and performance improvement
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory compliance standards
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting
  • Experience in Stroke Program Coordination: planning, implementing and evaluating outcomes
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of California
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification
