Program Manager, Public Affairs — AI Campaign

MetaWashington, DC
$119,000 - $171,000

About The Position

Meta's Public Affairs AI Campaign is a strategic and visible initiative that is scaling rapidly. The campaign is seeking an experienced program manager to enhance its operational efficiency. This role involves integrating into the existing program management team to bring operational rigor to a complex, cross-functional effort involving communications, marketing, policy, research, legal, and product. The goal is to improve the high-performing team by building systems, driving rhythms, and providing connective tissue for campaign leaders and functional experts. The ideal candidate finds satisfaction in optimizing team operations, bringing order to complexity, prioritizing based on impact and urgency, and collaborating effectively. This role focuses on execution infrastructure rather than strategy ownership, ensuring a complex operation remains organized, on-track, and proactive. Success requires an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated organizational skills, and a drive to foster collective impact.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of related strategy, operations, consulting, or program/project management experience, including managing complex, cross-functional workstreams
  • Experience building, optimizing, and scaling programs and processes within established teams experiencing growth or transformation
  • Comfortable operating as a trusted partner to senior leaders — influencing without authority, being firm with requests, ensuring follow-through, and communicating shifting priorities clearly across stakeholders
  • Experience working in complex, high-pressure environments where priorities shift quickly and ambiguity is the norm
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of managing multiple workstreams simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail, and delivering information in a highly organized manner
  • Written and verbal communication skills — able to distill complexity into clear, actionable updates for diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, drive alignment, and foster cooperation across teams you don't directly manage

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating across functions you don't directly manage — rallying partners through clarity, persistence, and shared purpose
  • Experience planning and executing high-profile events or convenings that require tight cross-functional coordination on compressed timelines
  • Experience in public affairs, public policy, advocacy, or communications — helpful for context but not required
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Track record of plugging into existing teams during growth or transformation and accelerating their output
  • History of building structure and process in environments that didn't have it
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Familiarity with (or curiosity about) the AI policy landscape and the ability to quickly develop working fluency in new subject matter
  • Experience operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments — e.g., consulting, government, corporate strategy, political campaigns, agency account management
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Comfortable with campaign-speed execution — whether that background comes from politics, advocacy, corporate launches, or something else entirely

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the AI Campaign team to build and maintain the cross-functional operating rhythms of the campaign — including meetings, escalations, reviews, reporting cadences, and communication channels — ensuring tight coordination across communications, marketing, policy, research, legal, and product teams
  • Support campaign leadership in translating strategy into execution: building roadmaps, maintaining workstream trackers, managing timelines, and ensuring clear ownership and accountability across the campaign
  • Drive the campaign's day-to-day status reporting, performance tracking, and budget management — surfacing risks early, flagging dependencies, and keeping leadership informed with the right level of detail at the right time
  • Develop and scale working models, processes, and systems that improve cross-functional campaign collaboration and efficiency as the campaign grows — from planning frameworks to decision-making templates to internal communication tools
  • Serve as connective tissue across the campaign's internal functions, ensuring workstreams are aligned, information flows freely between teams, and nothing falls through the cracks
  • Support the preparation and coordination of leadership reviews, steering committee meetings, and other senior stakeholder touchpoints — ensuring materials are clearly framed and follow-ups are tracked
  • Help build repeatable playbooks and best practices for campaign program management that can scale as we expand to new issues, markets, and workstreams
  • Contribute to developing the broader Public Affairs Campaign Program Management function
