About The Position

This position supports the BIAC mission by leading the Reentry program which facilitates the successful reintegration of individuals with brain injuries involved in the legal system back into their communities, with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism. This will include supporting the evaluation and modification of the program to best meet the needs of BIAC clients. It will also include cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships with jails and courts; assisting in monitoring grant-based and Medicaid-funded budgets; supervising a team of Reentry Specialists; and collaborating closely with the clinical team while engaging in advocacy and community engagement to enhance the lives of this special population.

Requirements

Master’s degree in social work or counseling required.
Active licensure or expected licensure within 6 months
Experience with substance misuse interventions.
Experience with trauma-informed care, strength-based therapy interventions, and other applicable treatment modalities.
Experience working with people with diverse populations, including cognitive disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges.
Willingness to support clients facing extreme circumstances while considering the impacts of systemic bias and judgment.
Experience with the legal system, professional or lived.
Experience working with people with cognitive disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
Experience with program reporting and evaluation to fulfill grant and contract requirements.
Knowledge and experience applying person-centered and culturally competent practices in interactions with clients, co-workers, professionals, and other community members.
Experience managing one or more budgets.
Knowledge of community, state, and federal resources for brain injury, disability, or human services specific to the region this position serves.
Knowledge of Colorado legal systems and infrastructure.
Experience supervising small group facilitators.
Experience presenting to large and diverse audiences as well as boards and committees.
Access to reliable transportation for travel within the region this position serves, sometimes after hours and on weekends.
Active licensure (LAC, LPC, LCSW or LMFT). Must be registered with DORA.
CBIS certification (acquired within one year of employment and maintained through continuing education). BIAC provides training.
Can read and interpret documents. Can draft routine reports and correspondence. Can speak effectively before groups.

Responsibilities

Re-Entry Program and Service Delivery
Capacity Building: Build capacity within the community through outreach, education, training, and consultation to better serve legal system-involved clients.
Coordinate and deliver annual in-person training to service providers and other groups per grants, contracts, and by request.
Represent BIAC in the community by attending events and meetings and participating in work groups or committees as appropriate.
Network with stakeholders to expand resources and opportunities for BI Legal system services. Grow resources within the online resource directory relevant to legal-system-involved survivors of an injury to the brain.
With the department Vice President, research, develop, and update content and curriculum for brain injury education as needed.
Provide support and consultation to community professionals upon request.
Create and disseminate educational materials for professionals and clients as needed.
Develop and maintain an awareness of emerging policies and legislation, providing timely updates and analyses to the department vice president and CEO. Consider ways BIAC can advocate for meaningful system change within the legal system, leveraging opportunities for involvement and influence to improve outcomes for BI survivors.
Serve as the reentry specialist on one court docket and provide reentry services to any clients who come through that docket, including screening, goal development, and resource connection.
Facilitate one weekly psychoeducation group for brain injury survivors using the AHEAD curriculum.
Clinical Services
Monitor clinical program planning and operation for survivors in the Re-Entry Program, standards compliance, develop applicable clinical and administrative policies and procedures, assist with the fiscal accountability of the program, and manage/supervise a clinical staff.
Complete intakes to maintain caseload and for clients seeking entry to Re-Entry program services.
Complete master treatment plan within 24 hours after completion of biopsychosocial assessment for each client to develop an appropriate Mental Health Service plan.
Provide on-going assessments, crisis intervention and case management to clients and their caregivers.
Develop and monitor service plans, treatment progress, and other reporting data.
Coordinate services in a treatment team model with internal as well as external services
Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to Federal, State and BIAC Clinical Services (BIACCS) guidelines.
Create new contacts within appropriate software (e.g., Bestnotes) including at minimum, baseline demographics, injury, and contact information.
Within 24 - 48 hours of interacting with the client: i) update existing contacts as needed and ii) record details of client contact including type of contact, summary of activities, and therapy notes.
Complete necessary billing requirements and maintain Medicaid, Medicare and other insurance requirements.
Provide timely and accurate documentation, including, but not limited to: therapy codes, diagnosis codes, duration, medical necessity, and type of therapy session.
Staff Supervision
With human resources, recruit, train, and supervise program staff. Providing guidance and support to ensure staff effectiveness and the successful delivery of services.
Provide supervision to the Reentry Specialists, including the Lead Reentry Specialist (4 employees = each 1.0 FTE).
Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations and the Director of Clinical Services to support coordinated programs, including meeting clinical needs for clients and Medicaid billing requirements.
Human Resources: With human resources, the department Vice President, and President/CEO, recruit, hire, onboard, and retain quality employees.
As needed, complete supervisor responsibilities for new hires in accordance with BIAC’s hiring and onboarding procedures.
As needed, complete supervisor responsibilities for department staff exiting positions in accordance with BIAC’s exiting procedures.
At least once a year, complete a formal check-in process with all direct reports.
Receive, review, and approve payroll (by noon Monday and reach out to direct reports as needed), PTO requests, and special requests from direct reports on an ongoing basis
Professional Development: Support direct reports' lifelong learning.
Provide on-the-job technical assistance for direct reports.
Maintain self-guided manuals and other efficiency tools to build staff independence and task ownership.
Support direct reports in identifying and pursuing appropriate training and professional development opportunities at least annually.
Program Coordination
Data Management, Reporting, and Evaluation: With the department Vice President, ensure timely, complete, and accurate data collection, entry, reporting, and evaluation for legal-system-related referrals and activities.
Proactively assist with the coordination and monitoring of tool development, data collection, data entry, data analysis, and reporting processes and deadlines for each grant.
Proactively generate and submit accurate and on-time program and activity summary reports according to grant requirements and other contract requirements.
Proactively generate and submit accurate and on-time monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and annual reports for all stakeholders.
Assist with ensuring that data-driven decisions inform programmatic changes by: reviewing evaluation findings at regular intervals, participating in program development discussions based on existing data at least annually, and collaborating to develop additional data analysis strategies as needed to answer key questions.
Participate in developing and delivering annual reports and presentations.
Evaluation and Reporting: Assist with the collection and analyzation of data to evaluate program effectiveness. Assist in preparing reports for funders, stakeholders, and the organization's leadership.
Using Salesforce, track the number and demographics of individuals referred by partner entities, including data regarding follow-through with BIAC services.
Foster and maintain strong communication with court partners to collaboratively capture and evaluate recidivism, ensuring all parties' deadlines are met.
Record professional contact activity details accurately, including organization type, training type, duration, and number of attendees.
Develop efficient processes to ensure data is accurate, timely, and manageable in real time.
Budget Management: Assist with developing and managing program budgets. Assist with seeking and securing funding through grants and other sources.
Assist with monitoring the grant budget and generating yearly budget reports with support from the department Vice President.
Help ensure funds are allocated strategically to maximize program impact. This includes the prudent purchase of necessary program supplies, directly supporting the delivery of effective reentry services and client success.
Contribute to the effort to write grants that will secure funding for the reentry programs.
