About The Position

The Program Manager, Key Accounts role performs compost sales and marketing duties and provides a high-level of customer service for compost customers. This position will understand compost markets and value throughout the territory. This position will develop new markets to increase the sales of finished compost. This position will require the employee to conduct customer site visits the majority of the week, including territory wide travel throughout northern CA and Reno, NV, with the rest of the week working from the WM area office in Lodi (day travel with intermittent overnight travel).

Requirements

  • Must live and work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Two (2) years of relationship management experience in environmental, waste, or related service industry (in addition to education requirement).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with compost production, sales and use, and experience with large-scale growers or end markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all accounts.
  • Develop new customers and move all WM compost produced in the territory at best value.
  • Conduct site visits, investigate all customer concerns, and provide technical support to customers.
  • Manage highly transactional accounts.
  • Communicate and work to resolve unique customer issues.
  • Increase revenue and profitability by executing sound plans on retention calls to improve the customers’ service and/or profitability.
  • Match WM services with customer needs by demonstrating knowledge of customers, pricing, and competition; effectively communicates pricing and service strategies; proactively engages other WM business opportunities, referring internally as appropriate.
  • Propose customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with SB1383 Procurement as related to compost and mulch needs.
  • Effectively use WM sales productivity software tools (i.e., Prospect and Customer Database, Proposal Program, Pricing Tools, etc.)
  • Coordinates transportation for customers that need third party transportation.
  • Manages billing/invoice concerns and needs.
  • Convey effective communication skills and awareness of projects (Internal & External)
  • Other duties as assigned.
