About The Position

MakerKids is looking for a dependable Program Manager & Instructor to oversee the daily operations of our STEM programs. We're seeking a confident problem solver with experience working with children, behaviour management, or youth programs who communicates effectively and thrives in a fast-paced environment. MakerKids runs award-winning STEM programs for kids in Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft. Our mission is to empower the next generation of makers through fun, educational, and hands-on programs. Featured in Wired, CTV, the Globe and Mail, and more, we’re pioneers in helping kids build real-world skills, confidence, and friendships through technology. As the Program Manager & Instructor, you’ll be responsible for leading and supporting daily operations with a focus on staff management, scheduling, customer experience, and smooth program delivery. In addition to program management, you’ll actively teach classes, bringing our engaging STEM curriculum to life for kids ages 5-13. You'll help build a great team culture and act as a key player in driving the success of our programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in team leadership, operations, or education management
  • Experience working directly with children in camps, classrooms, childcare, recreation, or educational programs is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent ability to problem solve independently
  • Ability to stay calm, adaptable, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and supportive management style
  • Customer-focused mindset with a friendly, professional approach
  • Basic knowledge in STEM education or is keen to learn our curriculum
  • Must be able to work at multiple MakerKids locations
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willing to obtain)
  • Willing to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check annually

Nice To Haves

  • A background or interest in STEM, education, or computer science is an asset.
  • Ability to work on weekends is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site lead, ensuring classes, camps, and events run smoothly.
  • Support and coach instructors with classroom management, problem solving, and day-to-day operations while resolving issues as they arise.
  • Help recruit, train, and schedule staff to foster a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Handle daily operations including scheduling, bookings, inventory, and program logistics (e.g., camps, PA days, birthday parties).
  • Troubleshoot tech issues and ensure location readiness.
  • Build strong relationships with families by providing excellent customer service, in a warm and professional manner.
  • Teach fun, hands-on classes in Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft for kids ages 5–13.
  • Teaching regularly will help you to build a deep understanding of the instructor role, support your team effectively, and ensure consistently high-quality program delivery.
