About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, or their designate, the Program Manager provides oversight of program operations, staff supervision, and service delivery to ensure program participants are supported through best practices. Responsibilities include supporting case management, managing human resource functions, overseeing budgets and reporting, and collaborating with key stakeholders to meet contractual and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • University Bachelor’s degree in the Human Services sector
  • Experience in a supervisor/management including performance management
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Suicide Intervention training
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • Food Safety training
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
  • A commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the John Howard Society.
  • A understanding of best practices when working with complex needs clientele including those experiencing homelessness, addiction and/or struggling with mental health.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, clients, businesses, government representative, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive oversight of all program operations to ensure effective, high-quality service delivery.
  • Supervise and support frontline staff to promote accountability, performance, and professional growth.
  • Participate in meetings with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and guidance related to program participant case managers including supporting staff in the development and implementation of case plans for participants with complex needs.
  • Review and approve incident reports and any follow up required post-incident.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of frontline staff.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and probationary reviews.
  • Mentor and coach staff to support skill development and performance improvement.
  • Implement progressive discipline measures when required.
  • Maintain direct supervisory oversight of frontline staff.
  • Complete and submit all required reports per contractual and funding requirements.
  • Monitor program outcomes, performance indicators, and contract compliance.
  • Oversee daily program operational expenditures.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
