About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to lead one of UVA Health's most significant enterprise technology initiatives, helping shape the future experience of clinicians, operational teams, and patients across the health system. As the HIT Program Manager, you will provide program leadership for large-scale healthcare technology initiatives, with a particular focus on strategic Epic transformation efforts. You will operate at the intersection of executive leadership, clinical operations, information technology, and vendor partnerships, ensuring high-impact programs are executed successfully while delivering measurable organizational value. This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for overseeing complex, interconnected healthcare technology programs and projects that support UVA Health's strategic objectives. You will provide governance, direction, and oversight across multiple workstreams while helping drive operational excellence, technology adoption, and organizational readiness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 8 years of experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar certification is required; PMP certification is required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of complex healthcare technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, operational priorities, and patient care objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing program governance, strategic recommendations, status reporting, and decision support.
  • Direct and coordinate multiple interconnected Epic projects and workstreams, including large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Partner closely with clinical leaders, physicians, operational teams, IT professionals, and vendor partners to drive program success.
  • Manage program budgets, resource allocation, vendor engagements, dependencies, risks, and competing priorities across the portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain governance structures, project management standards, reporting frameworks, dashboards, and communication plans.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle from intake, planning, and execution through implementation, adoption, and benefits of realization.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and executive communications while navigating organizational change and competing business priorities.
  • Identify risks, barriers, and dependencies early while developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Mentor project teams, sponsors, and stakeholders on program management with best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Lead initiatives that optimize workflows, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the technology experience for healthcare providers and staff.
