Program Manager, Global Mobility & Immigration

falSan Francisco, CA
$150,000 - $200,000

About The Position

fal is the generative media ecosystem powering the next generation of AI products. We build the infrastructure, tools, and model access that teams need to move from idea to production, and do it at scale without compromise. For developers and enterprises, fal is the foundation that makes generative media not just possible, but practical: a unified platform where high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability come together to unlock new categories of AI-native products. As generative media reshapes industries across a market projected to grow by hundreds of billions over the next decade, fal is becoming the ecosystem that ambitious teams build on. Why this role exists We hire the people who are best at generative media, and they are rarely already living in the country we need them in. Today that means visa timelines, relocations, work authorization and cross-border employment questions land wherever there’s a spare pair of hands — a recruiter, an ops lead, outside counsel who bills by the hour and doesn’t know our roadmap. We want one person to own all of it. Not a coordinator sitting on top of a law firm — someone who knows the law well enough to make the call, and cares enough about the experience that a first-time visa holder never feels like a ticket in a queue.

Requirements

  • Personally handled U.S. and Canadian employment-based cases including H-1B, TN, L-1, O-1, PERM, and adjustment of status. Experience writing arguments for RFEs.
  • Experience managing cases in NAMER, EMEA, and APAC through local counsel, understanding which questions surface problems early.
  • Comfort with owning the entire function and building out a team.
  • Proficiency in automation, with a preference for AI and tooling over manual tracking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide warm and discreet support under pressure during challenging situations like denials or delays.
  • Proactive approach to policy development, preferring to write policy rather than wait for it to exist.

Responsibilities

  • Own every case, start to finish: Sponsorship, renewals, permanent residence, work authorization, transfers, relocations — Americas, EMEA, APAC. Be the first person an employee, a manager or our counsel talks to, and the last one to close the loop.
  • Act as the in-house U.S. licensed expert, not a router to a law firm. For EMEA and APAC, choose counsel, brief them properly, and pressure-test their advice.
  • Develop and document mobility and immigration policy, assignment structures, cost projections, and compliance frameworks, ensuring they are followed and scaled for company growth.
  • Manage the vendor bench, including immigration counsel, relocation, and mobility providers. Set service expectations, hold providers accountable, and replace underperforming vendors.
  • Automate case intake, status tracking, document collection, and deadline chasing, working with engineers to build internal tools and reduce reliance on manual processes.
  • Track and analyze key metrics such as cost per case, time to authorization, risk concentration, and country-specific immigration trends to proactively identify potential issues.
