About The Position

The Program Manager for the Nursing Assistant program is primarily responsible for ensuring the program meets the established standards of Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The manager is responsible for mentoring faculty to provide exceptional teaching in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. The Program Manager will collaborate with the teaching team to continuously improve academic planning, assessment of student learning, achievement of learning outcomes, evaluation of program outcomes, and guide others to effectively address the diverse needs of students to enhance the quality of the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program. This role involves ensuring the highest possible IDPH standards are adhered to, managing documentation, leading curriculum development, coordinating courses, facilitating outcome assessments, representing the program, encouraging faculty professional development, serving on committees, supporting student recruitment and advisement, and participating in organizational meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
  • Current Illinois Professional Registered Nurse license or pursuing Illinois licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Current IDPH Train the Trainer certification of completion or working towards completion.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest possible IDPH standards are adhered to for the Nursing Assistant Program.
  • Manage the completion and submission of required schedules, reports and documentation, and maintenance records to ensure program meets or exceeds IDPH standards.
  • Lead adjunct faculty in curriculum development and instructional advancement.
  • Manage the coordination and scheduling of courses to facilitate effective teaching and alignment of learning activities.
  • Direct oversight of coordinating program curriculum by overseeing syllabi, support materials, facilities, equipment, textbook adoptions, program policies, handbook, and clinical instruction.
  • Facilitate assessment of course and program outcomes to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Act as a program and institutional representative by establishing and maintaining working relationships with clinical agencies, community organizations, and professional organizations as well as attending professional meetings and/or conferences.
  • Participate in and encourage faculty professional development to remain current with nursing education, workforce trends, and emerging technology.
  • Maintain skills through professional development, continuing education, and scholarly activities appropriate to higher education and discipline.
  • Actively serve on college, department, and program committees.
  • Support student recruitment by promoting and publicizing the program through personal contact, College promotional activities, and other acceptable media.
  • Actively participate in student advisement and orientation activities.
  • Support college-wide initiatives and actively participates in organizational meetings.
  • Conduct regular program faculty meetings and advisory meetings.
  • Recommend adjunct faculty for hire and teaching assignments and arrange for or schedule substitutes.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for student certification testing.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities during the day, evening and/or weekend on any campus.
  • Perform related duties as required.
