About The Position

The Program Manager, Asset Performance Management (APM) is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide strategy, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of Sylvamo’s APM capabilities. This role drives initiatives that enhance asset reliability, Overall Machine Efficiency (OME), optimize maintenance practices, and leverages digital technologies—such as predictive analytics, machine learning, and IoT—to reduce downtime and improve operational performance. He or she acts as the strategic bridge between the Manufacturing Digital Transformation team, strategic business partners, mill operations, capital engineering, maintenance / reliability organizations, and IT/OT teams. The ideal candidate combines strong program management capability with a deep understanding of industrial maintenance/reliability fundamentals and integrated paper mill operations with a passion for digital innovation. This leads Sylvamo’s enterprise APM strategy by driving alignment across mills, maintenance, reliability, and digital transformation teams while overseeing the development and deployment of cutting edge APM technologies, standards, and work processes. This role ensures consistent implementation of asset data structures, functional descriptions, predictive analytics, and condition monitoring capabilities, partnering closely with IT/OT to integrate APM solutions with core manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Paper Science, Computer Science, Operations, or related field.
  • 8+ years experience in manufacturing, maintenance & reliability, and/or industrial digital transformation roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with APM tools (e.g., AVEVA, AspenTech, GE APM, IBM Maximo APM, SAP PM, etc.).
  • Strong program/project management skills with experience leading multi-site or enterprise initiatives.
  • Familiarity with reliability frameworks such as reliability centered maintenance (RCM), reliability centered failure analysis (RCFA), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), condition based maintenance (CBM), and ISO 55000.
  • Understanding of OT/IT systems: historians, IoT sensors, maintenance management system (CMMS), manufacturing execution system (MES), and industrial networks.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational change leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pulp & paper, continuous process manufacturing, or other heavy industrial environments, preferred.
  • Knowledge of data science concepts or experience with predictive analytics tools, preferred.
  • Certification: CMRP, PMP, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.), preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global APM program to define, deploy, and continuously improve enterprise APM capabilities across manufacturing operations
  • Translate APM strategy into actionable program plans with clear scope, milestones, deliverables, and value targets
  • Maintain end-to-end visibility to program dependencies, risks, and progress across mills and regions, providing transparent updates to transformation leadership
  • Coordinate across Digital Transformation initiatives (e.g., Industrial Data Landscape, Transformative Controls, Mobile Worker) to ensure alignment, interoperability, and shared value delivery
  • Partner closely with mill leadership, maintenance/reliability teams, global technology and engineering to ensure solutions are grounded in operational realities
  • Engage with external vendors, system integrators, and analytics partners to ensure alignment with Sylvamo standards and long-term strategy
  • Drive technology co-development activities with third party partners and Sylvamo technical resources
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure APM initiatives deliver measurable business value
  • Oversee deployment of APM solutions including sensors, condition monitoring technologies, analytics platforms, and reliability work processes
  • Establish and maintain standard program management practices, documentation, reporting, and communication routines
  • Ensure consistent configuration, data structures, and work process alignment across implementations.
  • Manage program budgets, timelines, and vendor/system integrator relationships to ensure effective resource utilization and on-time delivery
  • Ensure consistency in implementation approaches, scalability of solutions, and reuse of best practices across mills
  • Coordinate global and regional rollout strategies while adapting to site-specific operational needs
  • Define and track KPIs related to asset health, predictive maintenance coverage, system utilization, and reliability performance
  • Measure and communicate business impact, including reduced downtime, maintenance cost optimization, and improved asset utilization
  • Maintain visibility to program value realization across mills and regions
  • Partner with change management and training teams to develop adoption strategies, training programs, and user support models
  • Develop training, competency models, toolkits, and adoption strategies that support mill teams in using APM tools effectively
  • Drive cultural adoption of data-driven maintenance and reliability work processes.
  • Serve as coach and advisor for facility reliability engineers, planners, and maintenance leaders.
  • Champion adoption of data-driven maintenance practices and standardized work processes
  • Establish sustainment models, communities of practice, and peer learning networks across regions
  • Drive consistent communication and engagement at all organizational levels
