About The Position

Horizon Education Centers is seeking an enthusiastic educator to join their school-age staff. The role involves creating a safe and supportive environment for children to grow outside of school hours. Horizon has a long history of providing high-quality care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 14 years, with a mission to offer excellent early childhood education, care, and youth development programs. This specific position is at the Triskett Station Childcare Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week, year-round role with a straight shift from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, including an hour break. The Program Lead will also take on additional program lead duties for an extra $1 per hour, with potential bonus opportunities. A minimum of a CPL 3 in OCCRRA is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in a school-age setting.
Must be able to adapt quickly to changing environments and assignments.
Must be prompt and reliable.
Must possess a genuine love of children.
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs.
Must be able to pass background checks and physical/medical screening.
Minimum of a CPL 3 in OCCRRA.

Nice To Haves

Degree or willingness to obtain a School Age Endorsement through the state.
Experience in a classroom setting and with school-age children.
Willingness to update job knowledge with required training, DCY licensing rules, SUTQ professional development opportunities, and industry trends.

Responsibilities

Provide homework assistance in one-on-one and small group settings.
Check homework and ensure completion.
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for classroom activities and clubs.
Ensure the care and supervision of children and classroom management in accordance with licensing standards and best practices.
Work independently with a group of children and collaboratively as a leader with other teachers, leads, center staff, and the director.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and other staff through prompt and accurate response, professional attitude, and problem-solving.
Manage a fun and engaging classroom environment.
Complete and document services provided, such as progress reports, attendance screenings, and assessments.
Provide functional classroom support and assist with meal service.
May be required to assist with center transportation plans.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with personnel and family information.
Perform other duties as needed/assigned.
