About The Position

Pilot Company is seeking an Operations Excellence, Continuous Improvement Intern to join their team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the company's strategic objective of enhancing organizational efficiency and resolving complex process issues across the business. The intern will be an integral part of the Continuous Improvement team, providing data-driven insights to support rapid, sustainable improvements and impacting high-level initiatives. This role is ideal for a proactive, analytical student who can serve as a thought partner, solve problems creatively, and make a tangible impact on a company-wide scale.

Requirements

• Rising junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Major in Industrial Engineering is preferred.
• Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint is required.
• A dynamic thinker who can solve problems creatively.
• Ability to work autonomously and be proactive is crucial.
• Previous professional experience is preferred.
• Individuals who are driven, reliable, authentic, and welcoming.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma systems is a plus.
• Some extracurricular activities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive operational efficiency by supporting data-driven insights and resolving complex process issues.
• Accelerate project completion by assisting with essential data tasks, enabling deeper analysis of ongoing projects and supporting evidence for new initiatives.
• Analyze and inform process redesign and automation efforts through actionable data insights.
• Support key projects that lead to quantifiable improvements such as reduced cycle times and enhanced data quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the business as a proactive, reliable, and authentic thought partner.
