About The Position

Minnesota Children’s Museum is seeking outgoing, engaging individuals to join their team as part-time Program Facilitators. This role involves enhancing visitor experiences in The Studio gallery and conducting pop-up programs throughout the museum. The Program Facilitator will manage all aspects of the program experience, from welcoming visitors and encouraging exploration to maintaining the space for optimal use by all. The museum is dedicated to sparking children's learning through play and emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in its mission. As a community resource, it aims to provide a fun, hands-on, and stimulating environment for children to explore and discover.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
1 year of experience working or volunteering with groups of young children and adults in an educational or recreational setting.
Comfortable with initiating interactions and/or creating spectacles with other people or in front of an audience.
Ability to experiment with play and whimsy, including open-mindedness, spontaneity, and curiosity.

Responsibilities

Facilitate art activities in The Studio (art space).
Actively engage with visitors by greeting them, introducing the activity, and inviting them to engage.
Reset the space as needed to ensure a fresh environment for incoming visitors.
Prepare and restock exhibit and program supplies.
Help scaffold children’s learning by using appropriate prompts and encouragement.
Facilitate pop-up programs around the museum.
Set up materials and signage in designated spaces.
Actively invite children to participate in activities.
Use pop-up program prompts and scripts with an energetic, welcoming tone and professional demeanor.
Customize interactions to meet each visitor’s needs.
Maintain spaces for visitors, which may include wiping down tables, rinsing brushes, and sweeping.
Report any exhibit or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
Provide excellent customer service to all visitors.
Answer questions about exhibits and the museum.
Direct crowds, supervise lines, and encourage turn-taking.
Respond to safety needs, including reuniting lost parties, finding lost property, and responding to door alarms.
