About The Position

This Program Engineer position supports EWB-USA’s U.S. Community Program, where the team works alongside communities and partners to address infrastructure inequities across the United States. This position works closely with communities, volunteers, and partner organizations to champion infrastructure impact. As a Program Engineer for our U.S. Community Program, you will help identify the needs and coordinate the solutions to civil infrastructure challenges faced by underserved communities across the U.S. You will assist with project management, program development, project pipeline, community outreach, engineering QA/QC, and volunteer engagement (student, professional and corporate volunteers).

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of related water sector, civil engineering, or environmental engineering experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and complex projects with multiple stakeholders required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge working with underserved communities in a technical field, local governance, or at a policy or regulatory level preferred.
  • PE licensure or equivalent licensure preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working within the federal funding landscape preferred.

  • Superior communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to enhancing the program’s impact by bringing thought leadership on how to better serve communities that face infrastructure inequities.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with a broad range of program and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and improvements of project team resources, project management processes, and project framework.
  • Provide effective and efficient project management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, Tribal Nations, local utilities, government agencies and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with and manage EWB-USA volunteers to deliver project objectives.
  • Attend and participate in conferences and seminars to promote EWB-USA and its programs.
  • Utilize Volunteer Village (Salesforce) for project management.
  • Travel as needed for projects, conferences, and engagement opportunities.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings, including a weekly projects meeting, weekly programs team meeting, and monthly EWB-USA All-Hands meeting.
  • Support the development, coordination, and management of potential grants and programmatic funding opportunities.
  • Stay informed on infrastructure funding programs, engineering best practices, and emerging issues affecting underserved communities.
  • Develop a work plan, detailed scope of work, project objectives, budget, and identify funding sources for projects alongside community partners and the project team.
  • Provide QA/QC for project team deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress and address concerns.
  • Conduct regular outreach to communities and volunteers through meetings, webinars, and phone calls.
  • Conduct site assessments alongside project teams.
  • Provide guidance to communities and stakeholders on best practices and requirements.
  • Work with the team to identify, onboard, and manage expert volunteer teams.
