About The Position

All Covenant House Alaska program staff work as advocates and allies for youth experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and who are at increased risk for human trafficking. The Program & Engagement Coordinator is an organizational and operational role responsible for overseeing the coordination, administration, and engagement tracking of all youth-focused programs within the Learning Management System (LMS) and ETO. This position serves as the central point of contact for program logistics, calendar management, participant engagement, and system administration across the organization's youth program portfolio. Grounded in trauma-informed, youth-centered practice, the Coordinator ensures that young people understand their options, feel empowered to choose what fits them best, and experience a welcoming on-ramp into Covey Academy offerings. This position will work closely with the Work Ready Alaska Program and the Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator. This position will work closely with program facilitators, educators, and leadership to ensure seamless program delivery and an exceptional experience for all youth participants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in program coordination, educational administration, or related operational roles.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar digital learning platforms are strongly preferred.
  • Understand and comply with all Agency policies and procedures, including Child Protection Policies.
  • Is approachable, relatable, builds rapport well, and practices active listening with individuals of varied cultural backgrounds, embracing differences in behavior and lifestyle choices.
  • Knowledge of community social service resources to assist students with needs related to housing, employment, education, and social-emotional well-being.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and ability to address conflict between students exhibiting challenging behaviors; able to respond quickly and safely while continuing to be a settling influence in crisis situations and emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality while understanding and complying with requirements of mandated reporting, duty to warn, Title IX, ADA, HIPAA, FERPA and other limits to confidentiality.
  • Willingness to utilize training opportunities in support of personal and professional growth, competence development, and to increase overall capacity to serve youth every day.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with standard computer operating systems. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite, online databases, and other programs and websites as required.
  • Organizational abilities and level of responsibility conducive to ensuring team and student safety, keeping supplies inventoried and stocked, and tracking and reporting on grant-funded activities.
  • Able to articulate successes and challenges experienced by students to inform program development and effectively communicate with CHA staff, community partners, funding sources, and others.
  • Willingness to see past differences in behavior and functioning and ability to passionately advocate for the right of all youth to be valued, supported, and housed.
  • Leadership skills and ability to tactfully and effectively coach team members.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours as well as Holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to attain a CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Possess a current and valid Driver’s License
  • Acceptable driving record assessed through CHA’s Drivers Acceptability Matrix.
  • Pass federal, state, and local background check investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Development, maintenance, and distribution of comprehensive youth activity calendars, scheduling coordination, and event logistics across all programs
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the Covenant House mission, philosophy, history, tradition(s) and the underlying values upon which the Agency is founded to the staff, students, and the community we serve.
  • Provide direct services to students.
  • Actively participate in all staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with the general public, including placement agencies and families of the students we serve.
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic commitment to the job and the students we serve.
  • Act as an advocate for students and support their interactions with staff, partners, and other students.
  • Serve as the primary LMS administrator for all youth program content, user accounts, and system configuration.
  • Upload, organize, and maintain digital curriculum materials, resources, and multimedia content within the LMS.
  • Manage user enrollment, access permissions, and profile configurations for youth participants, facilitators, and program staff.
  • Generate and analyze LMS usage reports, completion rates, and engagement metrics to inform program improvements.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate with IT support for escalated system concerns.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all participant records within the LMS.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain comprehensive Youth Calendars coordinating all program activities, sessions, special events, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for program delivery including room reservations, material preparation, and resource distribution.
  • Facilitate communication between program facilitators, participants, families, and organizational leadership regarding schedules and updates.
  • Track participant attendance, engagement levels, and completion status across all assigned programs.
  • Monitor program enrollment capacity and maintain waitlists as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-program initiatives and ensure activities align to avoid scheduling conflicts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for youth participants and families regarding program information, requirements, and resources.
  • Monitor participant engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve retention and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate recognition and milestone tracking for the Gold Star Program, ensuring timely acknowledgment of participant achievements.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes for new program participants.
  • Collect, document, and relay participant feedback to program leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Manage Covey Academy including but not limited to; Gold Star Training, Work Ready Alaska Program, Life Skills Reimagined and Comprehensive program coordination including course catalog management, facilitator scheduling, resource allocation, and outcome documentation for all
  • Work closely with the Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator and oversee a range of processes and programs in areas such as admissions, registration, placement, and career services.
  • Lead efforts to promote and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment.
  • Develops a comprehensive student program that promotes student achievement, engagement, and retention.
  • Interact with students regularly to provide information and assistance concerning academic issues, peer conflicts, personal problems, and crisis intervention.
  • Ensure student conduct, progress and attendance is monitored and addressed as needed.
  • Maintain database (ETO) management and assist in implementing data protocols.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data entry by residence staff for grant reporting.
  • Maintain a dialogue with the Data Manager to improve data design, quality, and processes in ETO.
  • Analyze data to track outcomes in order to help inform program design and decisions.
  • Collaborate with program facilitators and educators to ensure timely and effective delivery of curriculum content.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, providing updates on program status, participant engagement, and operational matters.
  • Support the development and implementation of new program initiatives and curriculum updates.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, community partners, and external vendors as needed.
  • Support Employment & Education Success Navigators with case management load as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
