About The Position

The Division of Continuing and International Education is accepting applications for Part-Time Lecturers for the University of Miami Pre-College program to teach non-credit courses for the UM Academies. Candidates must have a Master’s degree, however, Ph.D. preferred. Applicants are expected to perform high quality teaching for non-credit summer courses. All candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates with teaching and professional experience are encouraged to apply. The Program Educator delivers instruction and academic content for pre-college, executive education, lifelong learning, intensive language, and non-credit certificate or professional development programs, including workforce-aligned offerings such as Paralegal Studies and Human Resources. This role focuses on high-quality teaching, curriculum delivery, applied learning, and learner engagement and ensures instructional content remains relevant to industry standards and professional practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers scheduled non-credit courses and certificate program instruction using approved curricula and learning objectives.
  • Facilitates engaging learning experiences through lectures, case studies, applied exercises, discussions, and experiential learning methods.
  • Adapts instructional approaches to support adult and professional learners across in-person, hybrid, and online learning environments.
  • Ensures course delivery aligns with institutional academic standards, program outcomes, and workforce-aligned objectives.
  • Implements established curricula and instructional materials and recommends updates to reflect evolving industry practices, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Collaborates with program leadership on curriculum enhancements, instructional resources, and effective content sequencing.
  • Maintains alignment of course content with certificate requirements, professional competencies, and workforce expectations.
  • Assesses student learning using approved evaluation methods, including assignments, exams, presentations, projects, and applied assessments.
  • Provides academic guidance, timely feedback, and evaluation of learner performance to support successful outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains regular availability to address student questions, provide instructional follow-up, and support learner success.
  • Promotes an inclusive, supportive, and professional learning environment for diverse adult and professional learners.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records, grades, and required instructional documentation in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Participates in course evaluations, instructor assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance instructional quality.
  • Coordinates with program managers, instructional designers, and academic leadership to support consistent delivery, learner satisfaction, retention, and successful course completion.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
